Flu Vaccination Update for 2022-23
OUR FLU CLINICS WILL BE ON FOLLOWING DAYS:
1/10/2022 – 9:30 till 12:30
8/10/2022 – 9:30 till 12:30
We have now started taking bookings for flu vaccines for the over 65 age group as well as the “at risk” under 65 age group. Please phone the surgery to book an appointment, if eligible, asap as our stock supplies are limited.
If you are eligible for a flu vaccine, please call the surgery to make an appointment. Please do not attend the surgery if you are unwell and wear a mask or face covering when you come. You will be asked to wait outside until you are called in for your appointment. Please phone the surgery to make your appointment as soon as possible, as our supplies are limited.
We will also be vaccinating 2 and 3 year olds against flu with the Fluenz Nasal Spray. You can phone the surgery to arrange an appointment for your child now. For children in other age groups, they will receive the vaccine from their schools.
Seasonal flu is a highly infectious illness caused by a flu virus.
The virus infects your lungs and upper airways, causing a sudden high temperature and general aches and pains.
You could also lose your appetite, feel nauseous and have a dry cough. Symptoms can last for up to a week.
We offer ‘at risk’ groups the flu vaccine at a certain time each year to protect you against the flu virus.
You may be invited for a flu jab if you are:
- over 65 years of age
- pregnant
or have:
- a serious heart or chest complaint, including severe asthma or COPD
- serious kidney disease
- diabetes
- lowered immunity due to disease or treatment such as steroid medication or cancer treatment
- if you have ever had a stroke
- If you have any queries please contact the surgery.
